About the BCJBA
The Bronx County Jewish Bar Association is a voluntary bar association of legal professionals dedicated to serving the Bronx community. Our mission is to encourage friendship and cultural connection among members, foster respect for the law and legal institutions, respond forcibly to antisemitism and advocate for justice and fair play throughout Bronx County, New York City, and beyond.
Our membership includes Jewish and non-Jewish lawyers, judges, students, and other legal professionals who live, practice, or preside in the Bronx. Guided by enduring Jewish values of justice (Tzedek), compassion (chesed), and social action (tikkun olam), we seek to strengthen both our profession and our community through action, integrity, and solidarity.
Our religious values and traditions are at the core of who we are—as legal professionals, community members, and individuals—and guide our commitment to both the law and the Bronx community.

Our Logo
Our logo incorporates blue, white, and yellow—the colors of Israel and also a solemn reminder of the yellow stars Jews were forced to wear during the Holocaust. Resting majestically atop the scales of justice is the Hebrew word צֶדֶק (Tzedek), which means justice but also connotes righteousness, fairness, and moral integrity. Beneath the scale is the Latin phrase “Ne Cede Malis” which translates roughly to “yield not to misfortunes” or “do not give in to evil.” It is both a biblical call to resilience and, fittingly, the official motto of Bronx County!
